Have you ever had a life changing experience and thought you can Make Wonders?

The HKFYG Leadership Institute believes and trusts in young people, nurturing and supporting their potential to become leaders. We are dedicated to taking leadership development to new heights to ensure Hong Kong has a talented pool of competent and committed young leaders with global perspective. As Hong Kong’s first leadership institute inherited from the Former Fanling Magistracy, the Institute instigates wide-range of programmes to inspire and unite those with a passion and heart to serve. We trust in young people to brush colour into Hong Kong’s future and influence others to Make Wonders for Hong Kong. This new monthly enewsletter shares updates on the Institute and the great Make Wonders stories of amazing leaders. Together we can all Make Wonders for Hong Kong and beyond.

School of Global Leadership (The HKFYG Jockey Club School of Global Leadership) strives to instill a sense of global citizenship and nurture outstanding youth leaders by connecting global young leaders with Hong Kong young leaders to exchange perspectives.
Ana Castro Monzon, One Young World ambassador and founder of Globalyl, began her MAKE WONDERS journey with us about 5 years ago. She was one of the global leaders in the Leaders to Leaders programme back in 2016. Since then, she has become a familiar face at the Institute. In 2017 and 2019, she even referred 4 high school students from her hometown Mexico to Hong Kong to join the Institute’s Summer School. Yet, the most remarkable programme she has joined must be the School’s flagship programme - Global Seminar.
In the past two years, the School recruited a handful of brilliant delegates to join the Global Seminar partnering with international organisations like Salzburg Global Seminar and Peace Boat. Ana also enjoyed this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in 2018. She remarks, “this programme offers in-depth seminars and workshops with prominent speakers centered around global topics. If you believe you can make the world a better place, I recommend this programme to you to learn how to become more solution-driven professionally while being surrounded by amazing people.”
This year‘s Global Seminar, in collaboration with The Aspen Institute, themed “New Leadership, Globalisation and Personal Elevation” will be held on 20-28 March. The programme lies at the heart of the School’s commitment to bring together leaders from across communities to strengthen self-capacity, sharpen their tools in organising and align diverse value systems with preparing for the upcoming individual and organisational challenges in the post-pandemic era.
The Global Seminar 2021 will go online and give delegates a more flexible environment to participate in a deep dive discussion. The week-long programme starts with a public event with B Lab co-founder Andrew Kassoy. It continues the following days allowing the 30 youth leaders to learn from and engage with experts through in-depth seminars and networking workshops.

The HKFYG Leadership Institute is revitalised from the Former Fanling Magistracy constructed in 1960 and opened as the first magistracy in the New Territories in 1961. The Magistracy was closed after the completion of the new Fanling Law Courts Building in 2002.

As Hong Kong’s first leadership institute, the revitalised site retained its original architectural style while converted the Courts and rooms into lecture rooms, a digital debate chamber, and M21 Studio to cater for the new usage.

The Institute also offers a two-storey lodge that provides the perfect accompanying venue for corporates, educational institutions, or even friends and families, with a series of in-and-outdoor facilities.

Stepping into the 10th year, the HKFYG’s “Neighbourhood First Reunion Lunch'' was held in a special way under the COVID-19 pandemic on 30 January 2021. In support of the Federation’s annual programme, a group of 40 young volunteers from Leadership Institute visited 20 elderly and families in need living in Fanling, bringing them lucky bag and readymade "pun choi" that transcends the boundaries of social distancing.
