As of 11:00 (UTC) on July 18, the global index of Bitcoin (BTC) price swings above the $9,800 level, marking $9,862.45. It has registered an increase of 5.34% in the past 24 hours.

1. Group of Seven finance chiefs cast a cloud over prospects for Facebook's Libra digital coin on Wednesday, July 17, insisting tough regulatory problems would have to be worked out first.
The massive social media company's plan to launch a digital coin has met with a chorus from regulators, central bankers and governments saying it must respect anti-money-laundering rules and ensure the security of transactions and user data. But there are also deeper concerns that the powers of big tech companies increasingly encroach on areas belonging to governments, like issuing currency.
"The sovereignty of nations cannot be jeopardized," French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told journalists after chairing the first day of the two-day meeting.

2. PayPal has introduced its own mobile payments App Xoom across Europe to provide quicker and cost-effective international transfers. The App, which has been called the "Ripple Killer," will enable people based in 32 European countries to send money to users in over 130 countries across the globe. However, if those recipients fall outside the 30-odd countries, then they will not be able to send money back.
Xoom has integrated with major banks and financial institutions to facilitate the money transfers, with a maximum limit of £8,800 pounds ($11,029) per transaction. The App also offers next-day money transfers at fees that are lower than its main platform, PayPal. As per their website, transfers on Xoom cost $4 in Europe and $9 to countries further afield.

Answer:

The transaction created by ones wallet application is 258 bytes long and contains everything necessary to confirm ownership of the funds and assign new owners. Now, the transaction must be transmitted to the bitcoin network where it will become part of the blockchain. In the next section we will see how a transaction becomes part of a new block and how the block is "mined." Finally, we will see how the new block, once added to the blockchain, is increasingly trusted by the network as more blocks are added.
