Cyberport Board of Directors was recently awarded the “Directors Of The Year Awards 2019” and “Recognition of Excellence in Board Diversity” by The Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
The jury commended the Cyberport Board of Directors for the way it has leveraged the directors’ extensive experience to offer strategic guidance and direction to enhance corporate governance, transparency, and public accountability. All these efforts place Cyberport in a stronger position to promote digital transformation to benefit the ecosystem and society at large.
Dr Lee George Lam, Chairman of Cyberport, said the accolades represent a recognition of the efforts made by the Cyberport Board of Directors and the Cyberport family. He noted the Board’s diverse backgrounds are coming from sectors that span the government, information technology, education, business, and professional services.
Dr Lam expressed the multitude of talents and expertise that Board members bring to Cyberport can “help drive the development of the innovation and technology industry while maintaining proactive communication and engagement with stakeholders to ensure high transparency and the proper use of public resources.”
He pointed out that in addition to promoting talent cultivation, industry development, and the integration of new and traditional economies, the past year saw Cyberport helping Hong Kong start-ups expand overseas, leading delegations to the US, UK, and Thailand to explore opportunities and strengthen business ties, and making significant headway in promoting esports. This included launching a new esports venue at Arcade@Cyberport and spearheading a number of industry facilitation and internship schemes for cultivating Hong Kong’s esports industry and talent pool.
Looking to the future, Dr Lam said, “Our Board members and I will continue to maintain high standards of corporate governance, and continue to collaborate with our professional management team to further promote and facilitate the development of FinTech, smart living and digital entertainment and esports in Hong Kong.” |
