Exciting esports events series to look into China’s new entertainment industry
This February, top IP and digital entertainment executives from Mainland China will gather at Cyberport to discuss the latest updates in the new entertainment industry at China Hong Kong Industrial Development Forum, while an international roster of players will compete in the XEC Esports Tournament (XEC), brought to Hong Kong for the very first time.

The Forum will gather renowned speakers who will look into the trends, hot spots, and prospects of the fast-growing new entertainment industry.  Among the many speakers invited, Wei Bo Hao, Interactive CEO of XinHua, will talk about the opportunity and challenge for Hong Kong via International Esports tournament.  Xin Tong, CEO of Newbee Esports Club, will share the operation experience of running a top Esports team”, while Yu Bo Hou, CEO of Morning Star Network Technology, will focus on making use of the advantages to rapid the development of Hong Kong esports.  More interesting topics and speakers will be announced soon.

The highly anticipated XEC will follow from 11 February to 13 February.  Forty-eight professional players from nine countries and regions will compete in a series of FIFA Online 4, CS:GO, and AutoChess matches.  It will be a rare opportunity to have players from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine to compete on the same stage.

The XEC has been making a splash in Mainland China since its launch in 2017.  To promote the Chinese esports industry and create a nationally authoritative esports event, the XEC has been organised in multiple cities and has consistently attracted millions of viewers.  For example, the Langfang competition alone welcomed more than 4,500 visitors and attracted more than 47 million views online, with more than 1 million people watching the live streaming of the games.

2020 will mark the competition’s third anniversary, and that is an event not to be missed.  Stay tuned on Cyberport’s Facebook for details.
