Insomnia disorder is a prevalent yet commonly overlooked condition, which substantially affect people's health, quality of life and socioeconomics. In view of the low awareness of the public health significance of insomnia disorder, the impacts of insomnia disorder in various aspects and recent advances in the treatment of the disorder will be featured in this issue.

Besides, the pathophysiology of Kawasaki disease (KD) will be discussed in the Focus section. KD is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in developed nations and is slowly overtaking rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in developing countries. Although intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) can be applied to manage KD, the risk of developing resistance remains a clinical concern.

Apart from the thematic topics, the efficacy of pharmacological treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, chronic hepatitis B and HIV infection will be highlighted. Moreover, the underlying mechanism of the resistance to Botulinum neurotoxin A and the health impacts of wine consumption will be reviewed.
